The ChaCha API's
ChaCha currently offers three API's: Quick ChaCha Answer and Top ChaCha Answers and ChaCha Trends. Here's the breakdown...
Quick ChaCha Answer
Unlike "regular" search engines where you ask a question and get back a page with a list of Web sites that may or may not have your answer ChaCha is a answer service. You ask a question, and get your answer. Call 800-2-ChaCha (800-224-2242) and ask a question by voice or text your question to 242242 and you get back an answer by SMS text. Since the launch of our SMS service in 2008 we have collected hundreds of millions of questions and answers. The Quick ChaCha Answer API is your way to tap into that big old pool of information. Check out the Documentation page and you can see how with one easy API call you can send us a question and you'll get back the answer real fast. You ask: "How old is Brad Pitt?" You get back not a list, but the actual answer: "Brad Pitt is 45 years old. He was born on December 18, 1963." But what if you want general information on a subject. That's where Top ChaCha Answers comes in handy.
Top ChaCha Answers
So using our "Brad Pitt" example again, what if you wanted to know the top questions that people have asked ChaCha about old Brad. Then you would want to use the Top ChaCha Answers API. Again on the Documentation page you'll see the API where you can query a word or series of words, or choose a ChaCha category, and you will get back an RSS link to 100 of the top ChaCha questions on the query. In the RSS feed you will get the full question, an A HREF link to the answer page on the ChaCha.com Web site, as well as a partial text of the answer.
ChaCha Trends
What are people asking about on ChaCha? What are the top things that are top of mind right now? You can find out and share them with your audience with the ChaCha Trends API. It's similar to Top ChaCha Answers except instead of querying a subject you query the API and get back an RSS feed the top 10 questions that people are asking right now on ChaCha. This feed is updated hourly. Check out the Documentation page for sample code.
